Granite

Heritage Memorials is able to supply granite monuments in over a dozen different colours as well as white and grey marble. Our raw materials are obtained from countries such as India, Italy, Norway, South Africa, and Zimbabwe as well as Canada and the U.S.

We have built our reputation on the quality of our finished products and with this in mind we begin the manufacturing process using the finest materials available. A selection of some of our granite colours is shown below. (Please note: colours may vary from the actual granites depending upon your screen, its colour settings and the browser you are using. These samples are intended as a guide only, and as with any natural product granite may vary slightly from batch to batch.)

Granite Information

As one of the last remaining fabricators of granite memorials in Atlantic Canada, Heritage has complete control of product quality as our manufacturing process starts with receiving 10-15 ton granite blocks directly from the quarries. This ensures strict quality control, which is the hallmark of every monument Heritage produces.

All Heritage Manufactured Granite Memorials are Perpetually Guaranteed against all defects such as cracks, fractures or discolouration.

Granite, as a natural product, comes in many differing types. The granite you choose has the single largest impact on quality and durability.

Our granite rating system is designed to provide a simple easy method to compare granites using characteristics that influence value.

All Heritage granites are rated between one and five diamonds based on the following factors;

  • Hardness; Hard granites maintain polish, softer granites tend to fade
  • Consistency; Quality granites display uniformity - variation in colour and grain is less desirable
  • Lettering Contrast; Good contrast makes lettering and designs more visible
  • Water Absorption; Water absorption causes granite to darken which affects lettering visibility
  • Colour Depth; Within each colour group the darkest granites are the best for memorials
  • Durability; The above factors all contribute to a monument’s effectiveness at withstanding nature’s elements
